Anders Olsson, the Academy’s permanent secretary, said at the time that the group needed time to rebuild public trust before choosing the next laureate. The Swedish Academy will instead name two literature laureates in 2019. Members of Sweden’s cultural society have come together to create a replacement literature award this year. The group released the names of four possible winners of the so-called “New Academy Prize.” The winner will be announced on October 12.
